Tailored to Fitness Purpose

Samsung Electronics started developing a new smart watch product line tailored to physical health (fitness) in December, according to U.S.-based IT media outlet SamMobile.

Samsung Electronics, the pioneer of the smart watch market, may be developing a new product line under the code "pulse."

U.S.-based IT media outlet SamMobile reported that the Korean tech giant started developing a new smart watch product line tailored to the physical health (fitness) purpose in December.

The code name pulse suggests that the new product will focus on helping users manage their health status by using physical information, such as heart rate. It has been also reported that the product number separately attached to the code name is “SM-R500” and that the final product name may be “Galaxy Sports.”

The product is expected to be equipped with Samsung's artificial intelligence service Bixby and Bixby Reminder, a scheduling secretary application. The size of the internal storage device is expected to be 4Gb, and the size of the clock screen is still to be determined, but it may be diverse compared to the previous Gear Sports series (screen size of 1.2 inches).

The release date of the product has not been announced yet, but it may not be possible that the product will be shown at “MWC 2019,” an international telecommunication device exhibition held early next year.
