Getting People in Proper Holiday Spirit

Dulwich College Seoul’s Head of Music Vera Mitford directs the international school’s Chamber Choir in singing Christmas carols to guests at the Grand Intercontinental Seoul Parnas Hotel on Dec. 6.

Dulwich College Seoul’s combined Junior and Chamber Choirs totaling 60 students performed a medley of Christmas carols at the Intercontinental Seoul Parnas Hotel on the evening of Dec. 6. Led by Vera Mitford, the school’s head of music, the students from Year 4 to Year 9 sang traditional favorites such as White Christmas and Silent Night to get the audience in the proper holiday spirit.

Earlier in the day, the Dulwich College Junior Choir, which is comprised of students from Year 4 to Year 6, warmed the hearts of the elderly by singing carols in the park across the street from the school’s campus – an annual event to give back to the local community.

Dulwich College Seoul’s Junior Choir, directed by Head of Music Vera Mitford, sings Christmas carols to senior citizens at Bluebird Children’s Park across the street from the school on Dec. 6.

"December is a very exciting time for our singers at Dulwich College Seoul. Children of a broad age range get together to share the love of singing not only with friends and family, but with a wider audience when we go outside of school and sing in public," remarked Ms. Mitford. "We hope that we can share some kindness with all who listen to us sing and can bring some warmth and cheers to people at the start of the festive season."

To usher in the holiday season, the Chamber Choir performed at the Millennium Seoul Hotel on Dec. 1, with additional performances planned at the Conrad Seoul Hotel on Dec. 7, the Korea Britain Society Christmas Dinner at the Westin Chosun Seoul Hotel on Dec. 10 and the Ring Out the Bells Dulwich Christmas Concert on Dec. 11.
