Expected to Exceed Annual Target

The Hyundai Heavy Industries Group won contracts for 145 vessels worth US$12.4 billion to date, achieving 94% of the US$13.2 billion target set for this year.

The Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) Group has won a deal for two liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, getting one step closer to reaching its target for 2018.

Hyundai Samho Heavy announced on Dec. 3 that it recently received an order for two LNG carrier vessels worth US$370 million from an unidentified Asian shipping company. The vessels, which will have a capacity of 174,000 cubic meters of LNG, will be delivered sequentially from mid-2021.

Including the order contract, the three shipbuilders of Hyundai Heavy Industries Group won contracts for 145 vessels worth US$12.4 billion to date, achieving 94% of the target of US$13.2 billion set for this year.

A Hyundai Heavy Industries official said, "Currently, we are talking with our partners for potential deals on various types of vessels, including gas carriers, and we expect to exceed our annual target."
