LS Mtron Independently Develops 5G Antenna for Autonomous Vehicles

LS Mtron announced on Oct. 31 that the company has developed the world's first omnidirectional 5G antenna for autonomous vehicles.

The company will commercialize the product next year after field tests.

The omnidirectional 5G antenna developed by LS Mtron is designed to send and receive radio waves only in a certain area required by a vehicle, so that it can transmit and receive them without any additional tracking work.

As a result, the transmission and reception of radio waves from a modem to the omnidirectional 5G antenna process has been simplified from four to two steps. The device is also characterized by a shortened transmission and reception time, less heat generation and lower production costs.
