Nexo Awarded Highest Safety Grade
The Nexo, a hydrogen fuel cell car from Hyundai Motor, was awarded the highest safety grade in Europe, becoming the world's first hydrogen fuel cell vehicle to win the top grade.
Hyundai said on October 25 that the Nexo received five stars, the highest rating in Euro NCAP testing.
This marked the first time that a hydrogen fuel cell car has earned the highest grade in Euro NCAP testing. The Nexo was recognized for excellence in safety in four categories -- adult passenger safety, child passenger safety, safety assisting systems, and safety for the mobility handicapped.
The Nexo earned high points in an assessment of injury areas in frontal and side collision. In addition, high scores were given to the green car model for its excellent child protection with a belt pretensioner and a load limiter in the back seats and easy and convenient installation of car seats.
