Samsung Electronics is planning to launch the “Galaxy S10” in February next year to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Galaxy series. Samsung hope to revitalize its sluggish smartphone business with the Galaxy S10 and its first foldable phone.

According to industry sources, Samsung Electronics has told several companies that supply cameras for the Galaxy S10 to start production between this coming November and December. Normally, manufacturers such as Samsung Electronics  notify parts makers of their production schedule three months before the start of mass production because they need time to improve product yield.

The Galaxy S10 is known to be equipped with the same five-lens camera as the recently released Galaxy A9. However, while the Galaxy A9 has one front and four rear lenses, the Galaxy S10 is likely to have two front and three rear lenses. The three rear lenses are each known as a wide angle, super wide angle and telephoto lens with 12 million, 16 million and 13 million pixels, respectively.

The display is divided into 5.8 inches, 6.1 inches, and 6.4 inches. Guo Mingchi, a TF International Securities analyst, predicted that 6.1-inch and 6.4-inch products are likely to include ultrasonic fingerprint identification function. "Ultrasonic fingerprint detector is a function that Apple has given up after trying to install it in its phone. This will be the most important part that Samsung Electronics promotes,” he said.

Moreover, there is also a possibility that a special model supporting 5G will be included in the Galaxy S10. In this case, Galaxy S10 will be the first Galaxy smartphone to support 5G communication network, which will be commercialized next year. The Galaxy S10, together with a foldable phone, is thought to be a product that will provide a momentum for Samsung Electronics' new leap.
