A Samsung Engineering-led consortium landed a US$4 billion order to modernize an oil refining plant in Thailand. The Korean company’s share of the project is US$1.1 billion.

Samsung Engineering announced on October 21 that a consortium consisting of its subsidiary in Thailand, Petropac Singapore, Saipem Singapore, and PSS Netherlands signed a contract on a refinery modernization project with Thaioil of Thailand in Dubai of the UAE on October 19 (local time).

The project, which is the largest of its kind ever promoted in Thailand, is designed to renovate some of the old facilities in an oil refinery in Sriracha Industrial Park of Chonburi Province 80 km southeast of Bangkok, Thailand.
