The Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology (KIOST) announced on Oct. 19 that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the National Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries (NIOF) of Egypt to promote cooperation in the marine science and technology sector.

A signing ceremony was held at Lotte Hotel in Busan as part of the "2018 World Maritime Forum" and some 20 officials from both sides attended.

In the MOU, the two organizations agreed to promote cooperation in all aspects of ocean technology research, including technology transfer, exchange of research personnel, exchange of technology information, and research conduct.

"We expect to help the Egyptian institute raise its research capabilities and technological level through the implementation of the government-led ODA projects," said KIOST Director Kim Woong-seo.
