The upcoming Boao Forum conference takes place on November 19 and 20 at Shilla Hotel Seoul. Co-hosted by the Secretariat of the Boao Forum and the Federation of Korean Industries, the conference in Seoul will discuss co-prosperity of Asian countries and their economic development under the slogan of An Open and Innovative Asia.
The previous annual conferences were held in April in Hainan Island, China and the upcoming conference is the first one held outside China.
The forum celebrated its 18th anniversary this year and Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Jay Y. Lee served as a standing director of the forum until early this year. The upcoming conference is expected to be attended by 300 to 400 South Korean and about 100 Chinese entrepreneurs, high-ranking government officials, scholars, etc.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening and the 10th anniversary of the strategic partnership between South Korea and China. It is in this context that the Secretariat chose Seoul as the venue of the upcoming conference. Former UN Secretary Ban Ki-moon, who became the chairman of the forum in April this year, proposed a conference in Seoul.
