Stepping up Marketing Campaign in India

Hyundai Motor plans to launch another two SUVs in the Indian market where it is currently selling small SUV models Creta and Tucson.

Hyundai Motor is seeking to expand its sales in the Indian market by introducing two more SUV models.

According to the Indian automobile industry on September 1 (local time), the Korean carmaker plans to launch two SUVs in addition to the small SUV models Creta and Tucson it has been selling in India.

Koo Young-ki, head of Hyundai Motor India, said the company would release two SUVs -- one will be larger and the other smaller than the Creta -- in an interview with the daily Economic Times in India. The Indian paper predicted that the large-sized model would debut in the Indian market next year. It is highly likely to be the 2019 model of the Santa Fe. The Santa Fe was discontinued in the Indian market last year. Reportedly, Hyundai Motor will consider launching the electric model of the small SUV Kona. In addition, a new hatchback car with the code name AH2 will be launched later this year.

"Hyundai Motor will launch six models of utility vehicles in India in the next several years," the Economic Times said.

Hyundai said early this year that it would invest a total of US$1 billion in the market while launching eight models in India by 2020.
