Taihan Electric Wire has won a US$76 million order from Kahramaa (Hydraulic Power Bureau) of the Qatari government to provide extra-high-voltage power cables, succeeding in entering once again into the Qatari market in five years.

The project consists of two projects. One is to construct a US$63 million underground power line linking an old substation with a new one in Doha, the capital of Qatar. The other is to install another US$13 million underground power cable between substations in Mesaieed, an industrial city approximately 30km south of Doha.

Taihan Electric Wire will implement the projects on a turnkey basis, from providing materials including 220kV extra-high-voltage cables, to cable network design and construction.

The two projects will take about 15 months and 19 months, respectively, to complete after their groundbreaking, the company said in a regulatory filing.
