A Micro Pulse System (MPS), an industrial dust collecting device developed by POSCO ICT, will be exported to China.

A ceremony was held on December 5, and POSCO ICT’s CEO Cho Bong-rae and Chinese officials were present to mark the shipment of the MPS.

An MPS is a device that eliminates dust emitted from industrial compounds by attaching it electrically to a dust-collecting panel.

Products will be shipped to Qinhuangdao thermal power plant in Hebei Province. Under the agreement, the initial shipment of sixteen units will be made, with an additional 100 units to be shipped in the future. The total export value is forecast at 140 billion won (US$1.3 million). POSCO ICT’s spokesperson said, “This is just a first-stage volume, which will grow in the future.”

China’s smog from particulate matter (PM-10) has become a serious environmental issue, prompting China to implement strong preventive measures. The Chinese government has mandated that coal-fired power plants and steel mills in 47 major cities reduce the concentration of emitted dust to 20-30mg in the next five years, driving them to upgrade the existing environmental facilities.
