Samsung Electronics will speed up its expansion into the Latin American market after setting up an outdoor LED signboard in Lima, Peru.

Samsung Electronics announced on July 5 that the company installed an LED signage display board at Plaza Norte, a premium shopping mall in Lima, Peru. The signage is 63 meters by 7.7 meters so its size is equivalent to that of a parking lot which can accommodate 85 cars at the same time. The display can realize brightness of up to 7700 nits.

The company explained that the display satisfied the IP65 waterproof and dustproof standard and greatly improved durability as the company produced it considering the frequent occurrence of earthquakes.

Plaza Norte is the largest shopping mall in Peru with 4 million visitors a month, and is located in a bustling area with a bus terminal, restaurants and fashion shops among others nearby.

"The LED signage installed here is expected to become a landmark in Central and South America like those in London’s Piccadilly and New York City’s Times Square," a Samsung Electronics official said.

"Samsung Electronics is recognized in the global market based on its differentiated technology in the field of LED signage," said Kim Seok-ki, vice president of the video display division at Samsung Electronics. "With this display as momentum, we will continue to expand our market share in the Latin American LED signage market.”
