The World Water Forum held an experts’ symposium on November 26, in Seoul’s Myeongdong Post-Tower, in support of the successful launch of the 7th World Water Forum scheduled to be held in February 2015 in Daegu City.

Among the 250 attendees were Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the 2015 Water Forum Lee Jeong-moo, former Prime Minister Han Seung-soo, and President of K-Water Choi Gae-weon.

Chairman Lee Jeong-moo said in his opening speech, “The key word for the 7th World Water Forum will be ‘action,’” adding that it will be a chance for Korea to show the world how to act and tackle issues in an industry that grows 4% every year.

K-Water President Choi Gae-weon emphasized the importance of exposing water issues to the public, saying that “The World Water Forum will be a good opportunity to spotlight Korea’s water industry.” He also said that K-Water, a public water control company, will actively participate in the event.

Tuesday’s symposium dealt with water and its impact on Korea’s latest buzzword, the “creative economy.” Panels moderated by the World Federation of United Nations Associations authority Cho Chang-bum expressed varying opinions, but also converged on a common rhetoric, calling for more public attention and media interest.
