'Produce 48' To Be Streamed First
CJ E&M has launched a new video streaming service "Global TVing," allowing people around the world to view CJ E&M content in real time.
Global TVing is part of a “global content + platform convergence project” designed to address the limitations that a global content provider such as CJ E&M faces, such as the time gap in content distribution between countries and low business effect from one-off sales of content to global platforms.
This is the first time that a domestic content provider offers video streaming as a standalone product directly to consumers over the Internet.
CJ E&M chose as the first content to be streamed through Global TVing “Produce 48,” Mnet's Korea-Japan joint idol project. It is to be aired on June 15, at 11 p.m.
A CJ E&M official said, "We will create a new global OTT distribution model by combining powerful content and global digital services."
CJ E&M also plans to sell products related to Produce 48 to the global audience of Global TVing after its planned merger with CJ O Shopping on July 1.
