“Marriage Blues” came in third at the box office on its opening weekend, with 121,750 attending the film on Friday, according to figures released by the Korean Film Council. The total audience number after 3 days was 278,747.

As the only romantic comedy in Top 10 box office, the success of “Marriage Blues” came as a surprise.  Filled with scenes that conjure up memories of popular British romantic comedy film “Love Actually,” the little film seems to have captured the hearts of movie-going couples just as the holiday season begins.

The film stars Kim Kang-woo, Kim Hyo-jin, Ma Dong-suk, Koo Jal, Lee Yeon-hee, 2PM’s Taecyeon, Lee Hee-joon, Ko Jun-hee and Joo Ji-hoon.  It portrays couples struggling with marriage blues days before their weddings.

The weekend’s top box office hit was “Friends: Sequel”, with 195,656 viewers.  The second-highest grossing film was Hollywood blockbuster “Hunger Games: Catching Fire,” which drew 162,916 pairs of eyes.
