The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said on May 10 that seven companies including Hyundai Motor and Mercedes-Benz would make a voluntary recall of 4,506 cars and construction machines as defects were found in them.

The front and back windowpanes of 714 units of Hyundai Motor’s three models including the Genesis G80 may come off from the main bodies at a high speed as inappropriate glue was used when installing them in the cars.

It was also found that 87 units of 28 models such as the C200 sold by Mercedes-Benz Korea has a possibility that their windowpanes may fall off from the cars during a crash due to missing part of adhesives during the front and rear windowpane bonding process.

Hyundai will start repairing the cars free or charge at service centers on May 10, and Mercedes-Benz Korea on May 11.
