In the current Internet industry, platform operators that have secured a large number of users make profits by utilizing their data, but it is expected that when Blockchain technology is applied, users will be able to make profits by using their own data.

"Internet users make a great contribution to the operation of internet platforms as consumers and information producers but are not properly compensated,” said Park Eui-bin, chief technology officer (CTO) of Line, a subsidiary of Naver, which recently declared its entry into the blockchain industry. "The blockchain and token economy platforms can give more proper rewards to users."

The compensations mentioned by CTO Park are expected to be compensations for contents that users create, and compensations that they receive from companies for providing data that they accumulated on the internet. There are companies that entered the blockchain industry by utilizing such an idea. My Credits Chain (MCC), led by Yang Jae-bong, is planning a service that records the credit information of users in blockchains and let them use this credit information.

MCC extracts credit information of users by combining traditional credit information and new data such as trend analysis of social network service (SNS) such as Facebook, card approval times, and public transportation use. Credit information and data secured in this manner are provided by users in marketplaces such as data exchanges and users receive cryptocurrencies as compensations for them.

In the game industry, a number of blockchain projects are underway to give back to users the game data of users which have been at game companies’ disposal.

A representative project is Hanvit Soft's BryllitePlatform. Users enjoying games on the Bryllite Platform can safely store their assets and move them to other games. Fractal led by Kim Chun-il, is a blockchain project that provides to gamers rights to own game data and decide the use of the data by tokenizing game data of mobile gamers. Based on proven data, the project creates an ad revenue model by linkinggame companies with gamersand shares the revenue with gamers who provided data.
