LG Electronics’ flagship smartphone is widely regarded as one of the best smartphones this year.
According to US-based magazine Consumer Reports on November 4, the LG G2 was chosen as one of the top 10 electronics products of 2013, along with Apple’s iPhone 5s. LG’s smartphone is the only selected android device.
The magazine said, “This phone has an amazing 5.2 inch display and a long-lasting battery. The power and volume buttons are on the back, under the camera. The design is more ergonomic and intuitive than those with buttons at the usual top or side.”
The phone’s functions were praised as well. For instance, auto answering is possible by just holding it up to the ear. In addition, it can automatically focus on the subject when shooting video.
UK IT magazine Stuff also selected the G2 as the best smartphone. The next best smartphone was the HTC One, followed by the iPhone 5s, the Samsung Galaxy S4, and the Google Nexus 4.
The magazine said, “Everything in the G2 is big and beautiful, from a 5.2 inch display to a battery, and a quad-core processor. Had someone said in 2012 that LG will be able to make this product, no one would have believed it. But LG Electronics changed everybody’s expectations by making the Nexus 4. With the G2, the company totally changed the game.”
It added, “The phone can be partitioned with the guest and general modes. Other mobile phone manufacturers probably regret having missed the opportunity to come up with the idea first.”
The LG G2 ranked first in screen and function with 10 points. In the camera category it got 9 points, holding the top spot on a list of the top 10 smartphones, along with the iPhone 5s and the Galaxy S4. However, LG’s smartphone received 8 points in the operating system, one point less than what both the iPhone 5s and the HTC One obtained.
