South Korean President Moon Jae-in visits Vietnam and the UAE from March 22 to 27. A large number of CEOs, not tycoons of Chaebol, will join this visit.

Accordingly, Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Yoon Boo-keun, Hyundai Motor Group President Chung Jin-haeng, SK Innovation CEO and President Kim Jun, and LG Chem Vice Chairman and CEO Park Jin-soo are expected to accompany him.

The presidents of major construction companies are likely to visit the UAE with him in that the South Korean government is currently aiming to win new nuclear power plant construction projects there. Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Paik Un-gyu recently visited the UAE in this regard.

When it comes to Vietnam, the South Korean government is planning to use his upcoming visit as a chance for greater cooperation and exchange not limited to bilateral commodity trade.

In addition, South Korea is planning to renew its relations with the ASEAN as a whole based on its renewed relationship with Vietnam. “It seems some ASEAN member countries are currently thinking that South Korea has approached themselves mainly for economic purposes,” the South Korean government explained, adding, “However, this is not true and we will make even more efforts for more mutual understanding and communication.”
