The Nexus 5, the second joint product of LG Electronics and Google, has been revealed. It has been reviewed to have the best hardware, latest OS, and a reasonable price, all three aspects of a great smartphone. A lot of work went into the production of the Nexus 5, with Korea being chosen as the first nation for its release, with Eric Schmidt visiting LG Electronics to discuss Nexus 5 sales expansion methods, and an equal amount of attention is paid to whether or not this product can become a “market squall.”

On October 31, LG Electronics and Google both introduced the smartphone Nexus 5 featuring Android 4.4 “KitKat” on their official blogs. On that day, Sundar Pichai, overseeing Google’s Android, held a new product briefing session at the company’s offices in San Francisco, and said, “It will be released Online through Google Play in ten countries including Korea.”

The keywords for Nexus 5 are “best, newest, and affordable.” Nexus 5 has the best hardware yet. It features Qualcomm’s newest quad core CPU, the Snapdragon 800, which determines the phone’s reaction speed, and a 5-inch full HD display. It has the same specifications as the strategic model of LG Electronics, the LG G2. It also has image stabilization and other types of photographic technology, which allows users to take the best photos regardless of lighting.

The Nexus 5 has a newer OS than the G2 does. The Nexus 5 is the first smartphone with Android 4.4 KitKat. Also, it provides various Google services such as Gmail, Chrome, Calendar, Maps, and Drive for a user’s convenience. KitKat has been released for free on Google Play.

The biggest competitiveness of Nexus 5 is its price. Including shipping, handling, and VAT, the 16GB model is 459,000 won (US$431.92), and the 32GB is 519,000 won (US$488.38). This is half the price of a new iPhone5S. The Nexus 5 comes in black or white.

The previous model, Nexus 4, had great performance and an affordable price, earning some global popularity. However, it released late in Korea, getting minimal attention. Therefore, for the Nexus 5, Korea has been included in the list of countries for its first release. Other nations include the US, Canada, UK, Australia, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and Japan.

Head of MC Business Department and Vice President Park Jong-seok said, “LG Electronics is proud to have developed a faster and better Nexus 5 with Google,” and added, “The Nexus 5, with its slim design and undefeatable performance, will serve as the blueprint of a revolution pursued by both LG Electronics and Google.”
