A survey found that the number of Korean smartphone users using YouTube has more than tripled over the past two years.
App researcher WiseApp released the results of the survey on the total usage time of four apps popular among Korean consumers such as YouTube and Kakao Talk. Korean people’s use time of YouTube in March 2016 was 7.9 billion minutes, less than Kakao Talk (18.9 billion minutes) or Naver (10.9 billion minutes). However, in February this year, YouTube took the overwhelming first place with 25.7 billion minutes. In two years, monthly use time shot up 3.3-fold.
On the other hand, the total usage time of KakaoTalk and Naver in February this year was 17.9 billion minutes and 12.6 billion minutes, respectively, which was not much different from two years ago. On the other hand, Facebook's monthly total usage time inched down from 4.9 billion minutes in March 2016 to 4.2 billion minutes in February.
These data came from the statistical estimation of a sample survey of Android operating system (OS) users among domestic smartphone users and did not take into account iPhone and other OS users.
