Samsung Electronics is hosting a large-scale global developers’ event for the first time, enforcing the construction of a smart ecosystem.

On October 29, Samsung Electronics announced it is hosting a “Samsung Developers’ Conference” on October 28-29 in San Francisco, US, to revitalize Samsung Electronics’ content service ecosystem and strengthening the support of resources for developers.

Samsung Electronics has been trying to support developers since 2008, when it established a Samsung developers’ website. It has also released a software development kit (SDK) and hosted a variety of events, all for developers.

The Samsung Developers’ Conference consists of 50 sessions in seven categories including mobile, TV, games, and Samsung services. Professionals from each field will introduce various development cases and new SDKs to develop services and applications based on the newest smart devices from Samsung Electronics.

Specifically, two new SDKs will be introduced at the event: the “Samsung Group Play SDK,” which allows Samsung Electronics’ mobile device users to enjoy music or games together or send and receive data if nearby; and the “Samsung Connectivity SDK,” which allows devices in different locations to be connected via a network and access content from anywhere.

Smart TV related information, such as a new version of the “Samsung Smart TV SDK” for developing applications for Smart TVs and the “Samsung Multi-screen SDK” for developing in-sync applications that work on both Smart TVs and mobile devices will be introduced. Also, a platform which can enforce data protection on Samsung phones, called “KNOX,” will be introduced to the developers.

At the Samsung Developers’ Conference, application developers, 1,300 B2B developers, and people from media and partner companies will attend, creating multiple opportunities for smartphone, tablet, Smart TV and other Samsung Electronics’ product developers to interact freely.

Samsung Electronics’ Media Solution Center Director Hong Won-pyo said, “Through this conference, developers and partners will be able to develop services and applications which can provide new value and experiences to customers, thus building up a stronger ecosystem.”
