According to industry sources, former Samsung Electronics Mobile Division CTO Lee In-jong, who left the company in December last year, is going to work at the Google HQ.

At Samsung Electronics, he oversaw the software side of Galaxy phones. At the Google HQ, he is likely to assume an entrepreneur-in-residence (EIR) position, which can be compared to a vice president position. He is expected to supervise the IoT business of Google.

He had been a computer engineering professor at the University of North Carolina. Then, he joined Samsung Electronics as a managing director in 2011 and led the development of the Samsung Knox security solution, Samsung Pay and so on. In addition, he supervised the development of the Bixby platform in the Mobile Division.

According to his former coworkers, he beefed up the software side of Samsung Electronics to a large extent so that the company is not just a hardware company any longer.
