According to the automobile industry on February 11, Hyundai Motor is planning to launch nine models including electric cars by 2020, and will assemble and produce electric cars locally beginning next year ahead of Suzuki.

"While predicting that the Indian government promoting the spread of eco-friendly cars will announce a plan for electric vehicles within this year, Hyundai Motor is planning to import electric cars in Korea as complete knock down (CKD) products and sell them in India beginning next year,” an automobile industry official said. The expansion of local production and market conditions will determine whether or not electric vehicles will be produced in India."

Based on the results of a survey on consumer preferences in India, Hyundai Motor is considering launching the Ionic Electric, which has been well received in the Korean market or the Kona electric model with maximum mileage of 390 km.

"We will invest US$1 billion in India and launch nine new models by 2020," Koo said in a recent interview with the local media. “The nine models will be four complete changed models, two partially changed models, two entirely new models and one electric model."
