New SSD Series with Speed and Durability
Super-good new solid state drives (SSDs) with speed and durability ever since were launched. The SSDs, in particular, can save a 5GB video within 10 seconds and can be written and erased 500 times for five years.
Samsung Electronics announced on September 23 that it would release the new 860 PRO and 860 EVO series of consumer SSDs that integrate cutting-edge semiconductor technology in about 50 countries around the world including Korea, the US, China and Germany among others.
Samsung Electronics loaded all of its products with cutting-edge semiconductors including the latest 64-layer V (vertical) NAND, data center-class MJX controllers (system semiconductors that serve as the brains of SSDs) and 10-nm mobile DRAMs (LPDDR4). The company explained that the new products can carry out complex multitasking tasks fast and smoothly by realizing write and read speeds of up to 560MB and 560MB per second and random write and read speeds of 100K IOPS and 90K IPOS. This speed level can empower SSDs to save a 5 GB high-definition video within 10 seconds.
To develop the new SSDs, Samsung Electronics also significantly strengthened SSDs’ durability and reliability, which was two key points in SSD popularization. The 4TB 860 Pro offers the industry's highest durability of 4800 TBW (Terabytes Written). 4800TB means that the product can endure write of 4800TB and users can write and delete a 5GB full HD video over 500 times in the new SSDs every day for five years. Samsung Electronics offers a warranty period of up to five years for the new SSDs. The company expanded its compatibility with operating systems from Windows to Linux by adopting a data center-class MJX controller of its own development.
Samsung Electronics developed a total of 17 models to suit various consumer needs and usage environments. SSD 860 PRO offers excellent performance for IT professionals, network-attached storages (NASs) and workstations and comes in five models ranging from 256GB to 4TB in a single 2.5-inch form factor.
SSD 860 EVO comes in 12 models ranging from 250GB up to 4TB for general consumers who want to boost PC performance by installing SSDs instead of conventional HDDs. This product features an enhanced intelligent turbo light function and increased the highest speed section of write up six-fold compared to the previous 850 EVO product, maximizing performance which consumers can feel.
