Samsung Electronics launches the new Galaxy A8 and A8+ early next month. Their main target customers are young consumers.
Both of the phones come with the Infinity Display as in the case of the flagship Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8. The Galaxy A8 and A8+ have an aspect ratio of 18.5:9 along with a screen size of 5.6 and 6.0 inches, respectively. The two phones are the first Galaxy phones that are equipped with dual front cameras and their cameras provide the bokeh effect and come with the live focus feature.
They support the Gear VR and provide IP68-rated water and dust resistance and their additional features include Samsung Pay for mobile payment, Samsung Cloud for data and image backup, and Always on Display for date and time check without turning on the devices. The phones come in black, orchid grey, gold and blue. The prices are estimated at around 600,000 won (US$540).
Samsung Electronics formulated a new strategy for its Galaxy A brand in step with the release of the Galaxy A8 and A8+. Specifically, the same number will be used to the Galaxy S and A phones so that the latter’s brand value can be enhanced for easier overseas market penetration.
