Samsung Electronics holds its Global Strategy Meetings on December 18 to 20 to seek new growth drivers.

The upcoming meeting of the Device Solutions (DS) Division of the company is the first one under President Kim Ki-nam. “The president is expected to focus on how to further solidify the division’s leading positions in the global market,” said an industry insider, adding, “At the same time, the participants are likely to concentrate on how to move ahead after the current semiconductor boom, which is predicted to end soon.”

The main issue of the meeting of the Consumer Electronics (CE) Division to be presided over by President Kim Hyun-suk is the protectionist trade policy of the Donald Trump administration. Recently, the United States International Trade Commission (USITC) slapped South Korean washing machine manufacturers and protectionist policy is likely to spread over time. QLED TV business strategy is expected to be discussed at the meeting as well.

IT & Mobile (IM) Division President Ko Dong-jin is likely to check his division’s flagship smartphone strategy for next year at the meeting. The other agendas of the meeting include smartphone quality control not to repeat the mistake of the Galaxy Note 7.

Industry 4.0 covering artificial intelligence (AI), autonomous driving, and the Internet of Things (IoT) is expected to be handled mainly by the Samsung Strategy & Innovation Center.
