Consumer Reports recently selected five top picks after testing about 250 TVs it directly purchased from retail stores.
LG Electronics’ Signature OLED TV W model OLED65W7P won the Best TV Overall prize. “This model is the thinnest one in the market,” Consumer Reports explained, adding, “In addition, it is the best in terms of image quality, sound quality and HDR.”
Samsung Electronics’ 75-inch and 55-inch UHD TVs were picked as the best jumbo-sized 4K TV and the best 4K TV priced at US$1,000 or less, respectively. Consumer Reports said that the 75-inch TV is a nice option for those who are planning to buy 4K TVs with a screen size of at least 75 inches, which are still quite rare in the market.
Sony Bravia XBR-55A1E was picked as the best among those not including LG Electronics’ OLED TVs and 65-inch Sony Bravia XBR-65X930E was picked as the brightest HDR TV.
“These days, the prices of 4K TVs are dropping and HDR is becoming increasingly popular, and this means now is the right time to buy a 4K TV,” Consumer Reports mentioned, adding, “However, OLED TVs are still more expensive than LCD TVs although the former have an amazing image quality.” It went on to say that consumers need to check the lateral visibility of LCD TVs before purchasing them although even high-performance and large-screen LCD TVs are priced at as low as US$1,000 or less.
