US-based IT news outlet CNET reported on December 2 (local time) that Samsung recently filed a patent application for a new technology to scan the lines of a palm and get a hint when a smartphone password was forgotten.

This patent contains a technique that shows a hint between the lines of a palm when a user scans his or her entire palm to get a hint when the user do not remember his or her password.

This biometric authentication method is likely to be used for other purposes, such as helping smartphone users to find passwords or authenticating Samsung Pay rather than allowing smartphone users to immediately use their smartphones like fingerprint authentication or iris authentication.

Foreign news media reported that Samsung might be satisfied with the patent application without introducing this new authentication method.
