AmorePacific has unveiled its customized facial mask “Tailored Mask.” The company released “My Two-tone Lip Bar” lipstick, the first tailor-made cosmetics product in the domestic industry, in August last year. Personalized cosmetics products in some areas, such as lipstick, cushion foundation and facial cream, have been on the market. However, AmorePacific has become the first company that introduces the customized facial mask in the world.

According to AmorePacific on November 29, the Tailored Mask is set to be launched in 2018 and customers can now try out the mask at the IOPE Lab in Myeong-Dong. The IOPE Tailored Solution consists of “Tailored Mask” and “Tailored Serum” that are custom-formulated skin care products to address a variety of skin conditions through an accurate and professional skin analysis.

Recently, the coined word “a sheet mask a day” has emerged. Doing a sheet mask everyday now has become the most important beauty habit beyond the trend. Those who visit the IOPE Lab can create personalized sheet mask pack and serum on the spot by using the state-of-art technologies like 3D printing and the Internet of Things (IoT) based on IOPE Lab’s accumulated know-how and data.

The Tailored Serum will provide a more specialized and customized solution by mixing ingredients according to skin types and skin problems on the spot through an accurate skin analysis. The Tailored Serum helps exfoliate the top dead layer of skin cells, improve wrinkles, firmness and soothe and moisturize the skin with IOPE’s nine main ingredients including cypress extract, sugar maple extract and fructan. In addition, customers can create the Tailored Mask that can exactly fit for their face shapes by measuring the size of their faces, such as eyes, nose, mouth, forehead and face boundary, with a smartphone app.

Technology is essential to provide custom-made cosmetics products. AmorePacific has overcome the limitations of facial masks that cannot reflect the different size of face, location of eyes, nose and mouth and skin problems with its self-developed manufacturing device. AmorePacific’s research center succeeded in developing the device that can produce personalized facial masks by making use of advanced 3D printing technology. Existing 3D printers can process only hard materials like plastics so they are not suitable to produce facial masks that moisture the skin on the face.

Based on the 3D bio printing technology of the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology, AmorePacific finally succeeded in jointly developing a 3D printer for mask packs with 3D printer producer Lincsolution after a series of 3D printing tests with materials that are attachable to the skin. AmorePacific IOPE Lab’s Tailored Mask is the world’s first custom-made facial mask using the 3D printing technology.
