Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics are seeking to preoccupy the premium television market for this Black Friday season with QLED TVs and OLED TVs, respectively. Samsung Electronics is planning to popularize QLED TVs with its low-end model, while LG Electronics has significantly lowered the price of its OLED TV to narrow the price difference with LCD TVs.

According to industry sources on November 19, Samsung Electronics has started its promotional event for Black Friday through its official website in North America.

For the event, the company sells its 49-inch Class Q6F QLED 4K TV for US$999 (1.1 million won), giving a discount of US$300 (328,950 won) off from US$1,299 (1.42 million won) of the regular price. The Q6F is Samsung Electronics’ new low-end QLED model launched for the peak season at the end of the year.

Samsung Electronics introduced its three QLED TV lineups – Q7, Q8 and Q9 – in the first half of this year. The Q6 is a strategic product line that has lower prices than the previous series to advance the popularization of QLED TVs.

In addition, customers can get a Samsung 65-inch MU8000 UHD 4K TV for US$1,299 (1.42 million won) and save US$900 (986,580 won), and 55-inch Q8C Curved QLED TV for US$2,199 (2.41 million won) and save US$$1,300 (1.42 million won).

LG Electronics has been selling its OLED TVs on sale for Black Friday from the 19th. The company has lowered the price of its OLED TVs to some 1 million won (US$912), narrowing the price difference with Samsung Electronics’ premium LCD TVs.

LG Electronics will see its 55-inch and 65-inch B7A models for US$1,499 (1.64 million won) and US$2,299 (2.53 million won), respectively, from the 19th to 27th. The price has been lowered by US$800 (876,480 won) and US$1,000 (1.1 million won), respectively. The company will also sell its 55-inch and 65-inch C7 models for US$1,699 (1.86 million won) and US$2,699 (2.96 million won), respectively.
