Samsung Electronics released the Galaxy Tab A in South Korea on November 16.

The Galaxy Tab A comes with an eight-inch display, improved cameras, and a home mode. It has a thickness of only 8.9 mm and its WiFi and LTE versions weigh 360 g and 364 g, respectively.

The eight-megapixel rear camera has an aperture of F 1.9 and the front camera has five megapixels. A floating camera button is provided so that the shutter can be pressed on any part of the screen. The directions and effects of the cameras can be switched when the screen is slid in any of four directions.

In the home mode, the Galaxy Tab A shows a clock, a calendar, weather information and so on even during charging. It can also be used as a digital photo frame showing up to 50 pictures. It also comes with the Bixby Home for user-specific content display and the Bixby Reminder for schedule management.

Its additional features include Smart View for display sharing between the tablet PC and a TV, Game Launcher for preventing unnecessary touching on the screen and blocking notifications while a game is ongoing, and Kids Mode for providing kids with various types of content such as games, educational content and Lego content.

The LTE version of the Galaxy Tab A comes in black and is priced at 308,000 won (US$277). The WiFi version, which is slated to be released on November 24, comes in black and silver and is priced at 264,000 won (US$237).
