The Korea Power Exchange (KPX) announced on November 8 that the exchange carried out the World Bank's "Green Growth Knowledge Exchange Project” at the Training Center in its Headquarters in Naju on November 2 for electric industry experts from seven countries of Latin America.

This training program aims to improve the electric power industries of participants’ home countries by transferring Korea's know-how in advanced electric power technology to key people from the participating countries as an international cooperation project for underdeveloped countries under the management of the Green Growth Trust Fund under the World Bank.

The World Bank paid attention to the roles of the Korea Power Exchange which is leading the Korean power industry, and requested the exchange to join this project from the beginning of this year. This is the third education after February and May and a total of 26 people in the power industry participated in the program.

Among them were the minister of energy of El Salvador, the minister and deputy minister of Energy of Panama, the chairman of the Associação Brasileira de Cultura e Educação (ABRACE) of Brazil, the representative of the Ministry of Energy and Mining of Argentina, the representative of the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MINAE) of Costa Rica, the representative of the Energy and Mining Ministry of Guatemala and the representative of the Mexican Ministry of Energy (SENER).

The main curriculum includes the introduction of the status of the KPX, the status of the electric power market and system operation, a visit to the Central Power Control Center, the new energy industry, renewable energy, smart grid policies and more.

In particular, participants showed a keen interest in the specific directions of the large-scale acceptance and operation of the power exchange's sophisticated power system operation, new and renewable energy and energy storage systems (ESSs).

The KPX is planning to continue to expand support projects for the foundation for underdeveloped countries’ overseas expansion based on this project and publicize the excellence of Korea's electric power market, power systems and overall electric power.
