Kolon Plastics announced on September 18 that the company will showcase a variety of products at the FAKUMA 2017, an international plastics exhibition to run in Friedrichshafen, Germany until September 21.

The FAKUMA is one of the three largest plastic material exhibitions in Europe. In 2015, 1,783 exhibitors from 38 countries participated in the show. Kolon Plastics has participated and exhibited engineering plastic materials and advanced composite materials specialized for light weight vehicles in this exhibition since 2012.

The most eye-catching material at Kolon Plastics' booth is environment-friendly POM (polyoxymethylene). Kolon Plastics’ POM has less than 0.5 ppm of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which is 25% lower than other current products.

POM materials mainly applied to gears and rollers in the automotive and electrical and electronics fields as they are excellent in abrasion resistance and are a core business item of Kolon Plastics. When Kolon Plastics’ joint venture factory with BASF is completed in the second half of 2018, the company will be able to produce 150,000 tons of POM per year, the largest in the world.

In addition to POM, Kolon Plastic displayed its main structures and 3D printer-related products using CFRP, a next-generation high-tech material.
