Kumho Tire announced on October 18 that its Crugen HP71 tire for urban sports utility vehicles (SUVs) launched in March of this year took home a prize in the product design category at the Japan Good Design Awards in Japan.

This year, the Good Design Award marks the 61st anniversary as Japan's most prestigious international design competition organized by the Japan Industrial Design Promotion Association. The organizer select winners by evaluating works’ design, usability, and innovation in five areas -- products, space, media, systems and solutions.

Kumho Tire’s Crugen HP71 won the award in the field of transportation equipment and industrial facilities. The tire model is specially designed for SUV drivers who want a stable drive in cities. On the side of the product, Kumho Tire realized a sophisticated texture through hologram technique that was first introduced in Korea. In addition, a new compound gave a boost to stability and braking performance even on wet roads, empowering cars to run safely on slippery wet and snowy roads.

"Kumho Tire proved its design competitiveness by winning the world's top four design awards for two years in a row," said Jeong Taek-kyun, a senior managing director of Kumho Tire Research & Technology Headquarters. "We will establish Crugen HP71 as a steady selling high-performance premium SUV tire in the Korean and global markets in the future."
