SsangYong Motor Company, part of the Mahindra Group, announced on October 10 that the company sold a total of 13,168 units last month – 9,465 units in domestic sales and 3,703 in export.

SsangYong’s September sales exceeded 13,000 units for the first time this year, up 8.4% from a year earlier. The achievement was attributed to the popularity of the G4 Rexton and the strong sales of Tivoli brands which sold over 6,000 units globally in 5 months since April.

In the domestic market, the company saw the sale growth for three consecutive months helped by strong sales of the brand-new Tivoli Armour and 7-seater G4 Rexton. Thanks to the high growth of 18.2 percent from a year ago, the company was able to rank No.3 in the domestic sales for the first time since its establishment.

The Tivoli brand’s domestic sales jumped 25.7 percent compared to the same month last year, recovering the 5,000 unit level in 5 months thanks to the popular Tivoli Armour. The G4 Rexton also soared 263.4 percent from a year earlier thanks to the release of 7-seater version.

SsangYong recorded the sales growth in the domestic market for the eighth straight year since 2010. Its domestic sales during the January-September period increased 8.0 percent compared to the same period last year.

SsangYong’s September exports showed a recovery for four consecutive months with the global launch of G4 Rexton. SsangYong is planning to expand its exports focusing on the G4 Rexton. The company successfully completed the grand finale of the G4 Rexton Trans-Eurasia Trail which run 13,000 Km across 23 cities in 10 countries, where the vehicle proved its excellent off-road driving performance and durability.

In addition, launching the G4 Rexton in the U.K last month, the company is ready to sell the vehicle in the overseas markets including Italy, Spain, the Middle East and Central America by holding the regional launching events.
