The Visit Korea Committee will continuously join hands with national flag airlines to publicize the 2016-2018 Visit Korea Year campaign at home and abroad this year, following last year.

Last year, the committee began this process with having the emblem for the Visit Korea Year attached to the exteriors of eight airplanes of Korean airlines. This year, as the dates for the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games approach, an even greater number of emblem-carrying airplanes will be prepared to publicize the Visit Korea Year around the world. Asiana Airlines will add 33 planes, Korean Air 10 planes, and Jeju Air 2 planes, totaling 45 planes altogether.

In addition to the emblem, the airlines are carrying out various promotional activities for the 2016-2018 Visit Korea Year campaign at home and abroad through in-flight videos, in-flight newsletters, airlines’ websites and monitors at check-in counters.

As the only public-private partnership organization in the Korean tourism industry, the Visit Korea Committee is joined by 17 private enterprises and agencies, out of a total membership of 28. Making use of the leverage of these entities, the committee continues to promote its tourism campaign through domestic and international networks in the private sector. Affixing the campaign emblem on airplanes also derives from the public–private partnership. This collaboration between private airlines and the committee is expected to generate synergy for the promotion of the campaign.

The 2016-2018 Visit Korea Year is a promotional campaign aiming for an early achievement of attracting 20 million foreign tourists and its corresponding qualitative advancement by seizing the opportunity of the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, under the vision of “The world keeps coming back to Korea.” It is now promoting the spread of its emblem in cooperation with private companies and improvements in the convenience and hospitality services provided to foreign tourists.
