“We will apply the internet of things (IoT) to logistics in general," Samsung SDS said during the "Cello Tech Fair 2017" held on its Pangyo Campus on September 7.

"I will apply the IoT to the control of air routes of cargoes sensitive to vibration and temperature changes, the management of all cargo locations in warehouses and the dispatch work orders," Samsung SDS said. "By analyzing massive information collected by IoT via artificial intelligence-based big data technology, we will provide the results to customers.”

During the event, Samsung SDS also announced the interim results of a pilot project of a marine logistics Blockchain consortium. The consortium consisting of 15 private, public and research organizations including the Korea Customs Service and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries applied Blockchain technology to export ships of Hyundai Merchant Marine and Namsung Shipping leaving from Busan of Korea to Qingdao and Dalian of China.

Samsung SDS said, "The project proved the characteristics of Blockchain technology that blocks a possibility of fabricating export and import documents with high-level encryption," Samsung SDS said. “We also enjoyed fast work processes.”

Samsung SDS is planning to expand Blockchain to financial and insurance related services related to marine logistics and expand application routes to long-haul routes such as routes to Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Europe through additional projects in the future.
