LG Electronics connected its home appliances to the Amazon Alexa like it did to the Google Home coming with the Google Assistant three months ago.

LG Electronics announced on August 27 that it would demonstrate interworking between its home appliances and the Amazon Echo speaker at this year’s IFA kicking off in Berlin on September 1. The Amazon Echo is a speaker equipped with the Alexa, which is Amazon’s artificial intelligence (AI) assistant capable of recognizing human voices.

The home appliances of LG Electronics that are connected to the Alexa and the Google Assistant are divided into seven types: refrigerators, washing machines, drying machines, air conditioners, air purifiers, robot cleaners, and ovens. Users can easily voice-control the machines with a device equipped with the Alexa or the Google Assistant.

“We are making efforts based on our open platform and open partnership strategy so that more customers can experience AI-based home appliances,” the company explained, adding, “We will continue to expand our voice recognition and AI platform in step with the move.”
