Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff, internationally bestselling authors of science fiction novels, will visit South Korea on August 7 to attend a production press conference of a domestic game developer.

According to ANGames on July 2, the company invited Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff to its production press conference of the next product of “Astronest: The Beginning” on July 7. The Astronest : The Beginning is a sci-fi strategy simulation game which has launched in 130 countries around the world.

ANGames will release a beta version of its new product “Astronest: The Federation” at the end of this year. The company is planning to jointly develop the story with the popular sci-fi writers in order to make the new game a big hit in the global market.

Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff released Illuminae, the first novel of the trilogy The Illuminae Files, in 2015 and ranked third in the New York Times Best Seller list for a sci-fi book last year with “Gemina: Illuminae File 2.” This is a story about hacker couples trying to escape from a planet  where epidemic broke out in the future in the year 2075, told through hacked documents such as e-mails, maps, medical records and interviewed materials. Brad Pitt's production company, Plan B Entertainment, bought the film rights of the novel in 2015 and is now preparing for film production with Warner Bros.

ANGames CEO Kim Hwan-ki said that he realized the importance of developing a story-based sci-fi strategy simulation game for North American and European game users who are used to console games with strong story lines and this is why the company has decided to co-develop the story of the new product with the international authors. He also said, “I think this is a must for the company to jump up to be global leading strategy simulation producer in the future through the story of the Astronest game series.”
