Samsung Electronics announced on August 1 that its seven branch offices in China will be absorbed by Samsung Electronics Beijing in the near future. Until the end of last month, the seven branch offices managed business in 32 Chinese regions.

From this month on, however, Samsung Electronics Beijing is in charge of sales network management with the 32 regions reclassified into 22. According to Samsung Electronics, the decision is to beef up its sales networks across China and make decisions more quickly.

These days, Samsung Electronics is struggling in China, trying to find a breakthrough. For instance, the company posted a market share of less than 4% in the Chinese smartphone market in the second quarter of this year, outperformed by local manufacturers. Likewise, Chinese companies are currently dominating the Chinese TV market.

To deal with the challenges, Samsung Electronics is planning to develop and supply more customer-specific and region-specific products in China. Previous examples include The Frame TV and Inter Milan TV. The former has a different name only in China, Hua Bi Yishu Dianshi. The latter recently made its debut in partnership with Suning, one of the largest consumer electronics distributors in China.
