Porsche Korea also suspended its local sales of the “Cayenne Diesel” model recalled in Europe after its environmental certificates were revoked due to an exhaust gas emission rigging device

On July 31, Porsche Korea sent an official letter to the dealership to discontinue Cayenne Diesel deliveries to customers. The model was recalled and its certificate was cancelled due to an exhaust gas emission rigging device in Germany on July 27 (local time).

The Cayenne Diesel engine was found to be loaded with software that would operate a device that suppresses harmful substances only when its exhaust gas emission is tested. The engine is supplied by Audi of the same parent group and is also used in the Porsche Macan.

In Europe, 22,000 cars were subject to the recall. It was reported that after the announcement, most countries stopped selling the model.

Cayenne Diesel is a volume model that accounted for nearly half of Porsche Korea’s sales by recording sales of 740 units in Korea in the first half of this year.

Since last year, there has been no Porsche diesel model selling in Korea due to the suspension of sales which stemmed from a violation of certification documents and no certification of new fuel efficiency coupled with this issue.

The new Panamera was approved by the Ministry of Environment this month from its gasoline model, but it will take two to three months to launch its sales. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Environment will look into related issues in the next month.
