Samsung Electronics will unveil and release its second-half strategic smartphone “Galaxy Note 8“ in the domestic market in August and early September. During a recent interview with Taiwanese media, Ko Dong-jin of Samsung Electronics Wireless Business Department said, “The Galaxy Note 8 will be unveiled at the end of August.”
An official from Samsung Electronics said the Galaxy Note 8 is highly likely to be revealed on August 23. The company will hold a Galax Note 8 unpacked event in New York in where its first-half strategic smartphone “Galaxy S8” was unveiled.
The Galaxy Note 8 will be released in the global market over two stages starting from early September, according to Ko. He said, “The flagship smartphone will be released in South Korea, the U.S. and the U.K. in early September first and then other countries in October.”
Accordingly, Samsung Electronics will be able to unveil the second-half strategic smartphone ahead of other competitors’ such as Apple’s 10th-anniversary iPhone 8 and LG Electronics’ V3.
It is still unclear when Apple will reveal the iPhone 8 and LG Electronics will unveil the V30 in Berlin, Germany, on August 31, a day before the IFA consumer electronics show officially kicks off. Other electronics giants, including Huawei and Sony, are also planning to launch their new smartphones around the same time.
Samsung Electronics has decided to reveal the Galaxy Note 8 ahead of its competitors as part of its plan to quickly absorb the potential demand for large-screen premium smartphones after the company discontinued the production of the Galaxy Note 7 smartphones last year.
