SK Hynix System IC, a foundry-specialized company founded by SK Hynix, which is wholly owned by SK Hynix, will officially launch. SK Hynix will further strengthen its system semiconductor business with the foundation of a foundry-specialized company, and will be able to expand its business into various system semiconductor fields based on the newly established company.
SK Hynix System IC announced its birth as a foundry-specialized company with an opening ceremony at its Headquarters in Cheongju on Monday. Park Sung-wook, vice chairman of SK Hynix and outside directors among others participated in the event to launch the foundry-specialized company.
The foundry business is suitable for small quantity batch production. This business is different from the memory business which is mass production of small items, and is required to switch to an independent management system for its continuous growth.
SK Hynix System IC is planning to zero in on technological advancement by selecting areas with high growth and continuity in the 200mm foundry market and build a capacity to secure more customers in a short period of time. Harnessing these activities, the company will employ a strategy to increase a possibility of its success by continuing to advance into areas with high technical difficulties.
