Optimized Dictionary for Foreigners
Naver Corp. released “Korean-English Dictionary for Foreigners” on July 7. It is Naver’s third Korean dictionary for foreigners following its Korean-Chinese dictionary and Korean-Vietnamese dictionary.
The dictionary is characterized by the optimized construction of contents and enhanced convenience for foreigners' learning of the Korean language. Especially, the new dictionary lets foreigners check information their most difficult application forms at a glance. For example, a search result shows various application forms of a verb.
The ease of use was enhanced for foreigners who are not familiar with the use of the Korean language keyboard so that they can find information easily and quickly through the recognition of voices, photos and handwritings.
In addition to this, unique Korean expressions such as strong words, soft words, honorific words, customized words are also listed, coming in handy for foreigners who attempt to learn high-level Korean. Also, the dictionary provides basic grammatical contents of Korean language education institution King Sejong Institute, so that foreign learners can be easily solved grammatical questions.
"We will do our best to inform of the Korean language more widely by expanding Korean dictionaries for foreigners to 11 languages including Spanish and Indonesian, and provide additional services such as 'Today's Korean Conversation' so that they can study Korean every day," a Naver representative said,
