Limited-edition Smartphone
Samsung Electronics will launch the Galaxy Note FE, which complements the Galaxy Note 7 prior the launch of a new smartphone model, the Galaxy Note 8 in the second half of the year.
The Galaxy Note FE is a limited-edition smartphone produced only 400,000 units using unpacked Galaxy Note 7 products and unused Galaxy Note 7 parts. In particular, in order to scale up the Galaxy Note FE’s stability, the Korean smartphone giant loaded the new model with smaller new batteries (3,200mAh) instead of Galaxy Note 7 batteries (3,500mAh).
In the domestic market, the new smartphone comes in four colors -- black onyx, blue coral, gold platinum, silver titanium. The new model will retain at 699,600 won (US$630), which is 30% lower than the price of the Galaxy Note 7 which was 988,900 won (US$890).
The Galaxy Note FE comes with Bixby, an AI assistant engine like the Galaxy S8, Samsung Electronics' strategic smartphone. In addition, Samsung made the 'S Pen' water- and dust-resistant. The S Pen, as a strength, differentiates the Galaxy Note series from Samsung’s other smartphones. The Galaxy Note FE also boasts of a stronger iris recognition function applied to the Galaxy Note 7.
