Never Forget
Hyosung held a thank-you ceremony for Korean War veterans and their families in the US at a military logistics headquarters in Huntsville, Alabama on June 27 (local time).
This event was held to honor the sacrifice of US soldiers who served as allied forces for the protection of the Republic of Korea. Hyosung began to hold this event first among Korean companies in the US in 2013 and has been holding it for five years since then.
This year, 65 veterans and about 200 family members of them were invited to the ceremony. In attendance were general Guestave F. Perna, commander of the United States Army Materiel Command, Tommy Battle, mayor of Huntsville, Kim Sung-jin, Korean consul general in Atlanta among others.
Hyosung USA locally produces materials for the automobile industry such as tire cords and carpets for cars, and supplies them to automakers and tire companies such as GM, Goodyear and Michelin. Hyosung is the tire cord market leader in the world.
Hyosung USA is located in Alabama, a region with many Korean War veterans, about 16,000 Korean residents and about 50 Korea-based companies. Apart from the Korean War veteran appreciation event, Hyosung USA has been giving scholarships to students of Korean language education courses in order to spread Korean culture to Alabama State University and expand cultural exchange between the two countries since 2015.
On the other hand, Hyosung has been supporting "Love for the Nation" Fund, which repairs poor housing of Korean War veterans since 2012. Hyosung has been carrying out a wide array of patriotic and veterans affairs-related activities, such as signing an agreement to take care of national cemeteries near its business sites in Korea since 2014.
