Saean Corporation (http://www.saeanmotors.com/), a South Korean electric car maker, unveiled its new electric scooter with three wheels dubbed the WID-U and is now accepting pre-orders in earnest.

With two wheels in the front and one in back, WID-U is equipped with a removable nano lithium-ion polymer battery (LiB) with an output of 3.98kWh. The scooter can reach a maximum speed of 80km/h and run the distance of up to 100 kilometers with a single charge.

After Saean released WID-U in the domestic market for the first time in 2016, it has tested technology in many different ways and improved performance to create the commercial model of WID-U.  With differentiated design and performance, the company plans to target not only individual customers but also corporate customers, which use two-wheeled vehicles as the main means of transportation for delivery, security, facility management and distribution, in earnest.

Saean CEO Lee Jung-yong said, “WID-U is a new concept electric scooter that has never existed in the existing micro electric car market. It is also a model that has maximized practicability and safety. We will bring a new sensation in the transportation industry through WID-U which was developed entirely with domestic technology.”

Its basic framework is made of tempered carbon steels, doubling the safety. Moreover, “roll cage” technology has applied to the electric scooter. It is a specially engineered and constructed frame built in the passenger compartment of a vehicle to protect its occupants from being injured in an accident, particularly in the event of a roll-over.

In addition to the structural designs for safety, the model comes with an airbag and seat belt, which are uncommon in existing two-wheeled vehicles, as well as “protection door,” which prevents a driver from being thrown out of car, providing the best-in-class safety.

In particular, Saean plans to adopt the “AR HUD” technology and a special film in a vehicle's front windshield in order for drivers to check state information and traffic conditions and use GPS navigation systems through the windshield in the future. The company will also add the smartphone mirroring feature which allows drivers to use smartphone applications more easily and freely.
