Ssangyong Motors announced on June 21 that the automaker began to raise its brand awareness by holding a racing event with the Ssangyong brand in Europe.
Ssangyong Motors has been holding its first season since launching the Ssangyong Rally Cross Cup (SRX Cup) at the Belgian Rally Cross Championship hosted by the Belgian Off Road Association (B.O.R.A) in March. A rally cross is a car racing competition in which multiple racing cars run simultaneously on closed circuits including both on and off roads.
The Ssangyong Rally Cross Cup is an amateur One Maker Racing competition where only single cars of the same specification compete. About 10 participating teams will compete with a racing car version of the Korando. The race will go on in eight rounds starting from the first round of the season held at the Duivelsberg Circuit, Maasmechelen near Brussels, Belgium, until this November.
As a rally cross compels racers to pass a variety of courses, such as unpaved roads and muddy roads, so it is important not only for drivers to have excellent skills but also for their racing cars to have strong power, quick responses and excellent durability.
